Description
I've been asked many times over the past few years for a tutorial for my style of drawing hair. Well...I hope I did well!
This drawing was done on white sketchbook paper, I don't know the brand. It was scanned by an HP, edited together in GIMP.
1: Does this work for other brands of pencils?
- I'mnot sure, as I do not use other brands. Prismacolors are known for their soft, waxy blend-ability, so I'm not sure a harder core pencil will burnish and smooth as well.
2: Is this suppose to be realistic?
- No. My style is based on realistic shading and highlights, but, with a manga-like anatomy base. Therefore, it has a stylized feel.
3: I only have a couple colors. Will this still work?
- Yes and no. You really need at least 3 colors, plus white, to achieve this look. But, practice with one or two colors is a great way to work on getting your shapes and shines.
Any other questions?
